Technical Information

Radio Transmitter & Receiver Range

The user has a choice of ranges. We are able to offer 50 metre, 100 metre, 800 metre and 2km units. Often contractors prefer short range units in the sure knowledge that they are not affecting other closures nearby.

Power

Our units typically use battery power. This enables them to be compact and completely independent. Solar panels are incorporated for long deployments making sure the units are maintenance free for years at a time. Mains power is easily incorporated for permanent installations.

Transmitters

The hand-held transmitters are compact, easy to use and rugged. To ease confusion we supply transmitters tailored to your specific signs, with only the functions you require.

Receivers

You can specify up to seven separate functions for your specific application. You may require lighting (both warning and flood) as well as the full functions offered by SmartSign combined with SmartBlind. We can easily supply a suitable radio kit to suit you needs. Our receivers are all interchangeable. This means that you can upgrade you units, in the field, with incredible ease.

Security

Our radios operate using digital transmissions which are security coded. This ensures that they are not susceptible to interference whether accidental or malicious.

SmartBlind Units

Mechanics

Blinds are made from exceptionally rugged materials. The surround is made from a combination of high-impact ABS plastic and uPVC. The material used for the blind is a rip-proof and UV resistant fabric capable of resisting all that a British winter can offer. Sealed electric motors drive the blinds up and down through a system of drive belts and torque rods. Blind position is electronically sensed and the information fed to the computer chip in the receiver.

Permanent SmartBlind Installation

SmartBlind units can be permanently attached to a backing board. This backing board my have a sign face printed on it. Permanent SmartBlinds usually have the receiver mounted on the rear of the backing board and fit on the standard ‘sign fix’ channel.

Temporary SmartBlind Installation

Temporary SmartBlinds consist of the blind incorporated in a tough frame, which attaches to the front of your own signs. The concept is similar to an empty picture frame. You choose what type of sign you intend to cover, and we supply a suitable frame. SmartBlinds clip into your sign using secure latches. Usually the receiver is integrated within the frame along with the power source making it a compact and rugged system.
